who seem that their own world is perfect

although, only few get to see behind the curtain

of the movie that is our own lives

☾ don’t hold on because all you’re holding on to ☽

and sometimes the audience doesn’t realize

that there are lines outside of the script

they think it’s just a dramatic turn or twist

but so often these twists will leave us with red marks

☾ is the sharp side of a knife ☽

sometimes we’ll witness someone get shot down

but with the high level of shootings

it doesn’t seem to affect us anymore

especially if it isn’t directly you or someone close

we’ll probably forget after a day of thinking “that must’ve hurt”

☾ that is continuing the cycle ☽

but how can it hurt more than when others are numb

and you’re left with a hole, an emptiness

you’ve lost a piece of you, a piece of happiness

but no one seems to care of notice

☾ of your misery ☽

people say they will be there for you

but as soon as you cover your emptiness

with a bright, new shirt

they’ll ignore what’s underneath

but laugh at some piece of “the new you”

but you’re more than what you wear

or what you’re trying to surpass

you’re you, and if someone doesn’t appreciate the whole of you

don’t hold on because they’re more likely to continue

the cycle of you suffering
